And so the Halo 3 online testing continues...

Just a little thing I noticed whilst logging into mygamercard.net a few moments ago. It would seem that the Halo 3 testing is still going ahead, Major Nelson was playing the Halo 3 beta not so long ago, indicating that indeed the developers are very keen to one up Halo 3's predecessor in the online play department, if not all departments. As long as we don't have to watch the blue screen of someone-is-standbying-my-ass it will have trumped it in our books!
Bungie must be very serious about making Halo 3 the mother of all shoot 'em ups, they seem to be covering all the bases, despite this little known Beta turning out to be a chaotic mess, not their fault I'm sure. Well, at least it is a mess for people outside the US, much like a third of the people here at 360insight.
What are your thoughts, is this an indication that the Beta may be coming sooner than we think?

Best Buy on Halo 3 release date

Best Buy dropped a bombshell today by putting the rumored Halo 3 release date up on the Halo 3 section of their site. This is the second time time they've done this. Everyone's busting their butts trying to get in the beta, and BB just quietly post up this rumor fuel.

Below is a picture of it encase it gets pulled, if not, here is the link :: Halo 3 at Best Buy

November, now thats a long time to wait for this world changing game. With the beta just coming out who knows how long it will take to get this game ready. Anyways this is a rumor so don't be sad if it doesn't pan out.

It's Rant Time...

Okay, Rainbow Six, I love you and all that, but god DAMN, let me finish a fucking game won't you!? Jeeesus Christ...
I've been playing you for days, while you've been digging those claws into my veins, keeping me coming back for more, quite frankly your game play is the stuff of legends, and I can't get enough, but I'm warning you, if you keep freezing my 360 on me, then you aren't going to be receiving any more playtime from me, that's for sure!

Consider this if you will:
You come home from a hard day's work, you think to yourself, I've not got long to go before I level up on my online rank and unlock a bunch of cool armor, camo, that kinda stuff, and so you kick back in that comfortable swivel recliner you have, turn on you're 360, and boot up the game...you sigh, haul yourself back up and go over to the 360 and take out Viva Pinata, cursing to yourself about getting vengeance on whoever caused you this hassle by not putting Rainbow Six back in after they finished...so, you boot game, you go ahead and jump right into a Team Sharpshooter (read: Team Deathmatch) on you're current fav. level, Kill House (original name huh?), it's going well, you're "poppin' caps in they asses" like it "ain't no thang" and you're happy, 2 minutes to go, your 2nd in overall kills, your team has the edge, someone comes round the corner and it's not your team, with your lightning reflexes whip your aim to they're head, pull the trigger, and nothing, no noise, no movement, no | Pyrobi | Killed Joeblog@Genericgamertag, no NOTHING, something clicks, it's happened again, Once again you curse under your breath threatening to cash in the warranty on this piece of crap but you decide to give it another chance...
You load it up exactly as before, same matchtype, same map, however this time it's a much longer match, 20 minutes, 7 people per team, 'this should be good' you think to yourself, you step round the first corner, see a guy 30 paces away, BAM, "| Pyrobi | was killed by a shotgun"...wait, what!? That's right, the ranges on the shotguns in RS: V are insane, you grit your teeth and live with it, albeit not happily, the enemy team takes a steep lead as your team tries to adjust to this dubbed 'shotgun whoring', after 10 or so minutes the enemy are 74 to 61 kills up on you, but you keep on chugging away, and dammit, your whole team works it back, you take the lead, 'this is what dreams are made of you think', and much like things were going before the last crash, you're happy, 1 minute 30 seconds to go, it's neck and neck, down to the wire, you spy a couple of guys camping in a train cart (bastards...), one of them sees you and runs toward you, you take him out, the other's haven't seen, you toss a grenade, it lands at their feet, it lands at their feet, it lands at their feet, nothing it happening... No good, it's frozen again: oh you motherlover!!
After calming down, from a fit of loud incoherent babbling with the occasional audible swear word, I sit here writing this, and looking at the screen in despair: Alpha team: 112, Bravo team(my team): 120, 1:06 remaining...I won't be going on Rainbow Six anymore this evening...

EA Apologizes, barely. Price Reductions also.

Today EA has apologized for a certain porn incident which happened in Utah the other day. A fourteen year old boy got a copy of Madden '07 and to his surprise (joy?) discovered some porn. His uncle got it for him for Xmas at a Circuit City in Californa. Here is their quick and short apology to Next-Gen biz: "We regret any embarrassment or inconvenience this has caused the family." Was it a joke and someone took it too far?
So, if you buy madden 07, be prepared for this stuff.

Also today EA lowered its prices on games for PSP and Xbox360. Here is the list for the EA 360 games.
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat - US $49.99 now: US $29.99
Fight Night Round 3 $59.99 now: $29.99
Madden NFL 07 and Madden NFL 07 Hall of Fame Edition - $59.99, now: $49.99
NHL 07 - from $59.99, now only $49.99
The Godfather - then: $59.99 now: $39.99
LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth - $49.99 now: $29.99
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 - $59.99 now: $49.99
NCAA Football - then: $49.99 now: $39.99
FIFA Soccer 07 - $59.99 now: $49.99

Now you can follow up on that Toys "R" Us visit.

GRAW 2 Release Date, Ubisoft Approved

Ubisoft has officially announced the release date of the much anticipated GRAW 2 (although how it's coming out this quickly is astonishing).
GRAW 2 is released in the US on March 9th 2007.
Also announced was that the once Wii-Exclusive, Rayman Raving Rabbids, is now coming to 360 sometime during the spring.
I'm really looking forward to the sequel to the first 360 game that made me sit up and go "wow, that's gorgeous'. Anyone else looking forward to popping this little gem in their 360?

Here's To 2007! And the amazing bevy of games which it contains!!

Rare Founders Leave

Chris and Tim Stamper, the founders of Rare, have left the company, their reasons are very debatable. Lately they haven't had many blockbuster titles such as Kameo Elements of Power, Perfect Dark: Zero, and Viva
Pinata (DannyOB ed. - Viva Pinata Rocks). The big MS is saying the sales mean nothing to their departure as stated in this statement

"Chris and Tim have helped shape Rare into the world-renowned development studio that it is today and their impact on the videogame industry as a whole is well known. They are simply leaving to pursue other opportunities and we wish them luck in their future endeavors."

Now we just wait and see.

Rainbow Six: Vegas - Yours for $50! (£25!)

image courtesy of sebleg.free.frFor those that haven't already got Rainbow Six: Vegas, I recommend it above every other Xbox360 game, bar Viva Pinata, because it is one of, if not the most comprehensive and enjoyable shooters on the 360. The Single player experience is incredibly atmospheric, having you on the edge of your seat while you nail an entry into a hostage and terrorist infested room, having tagged all the enemies inside the room for you partners to take down - *fip* *fip* *fip* go the three silenced rifles of you and your team-mates, and down go the terrorists. RB: Vegas is full of those moments. And that goes without the solid, and highly customizable online element, which i have to say, is absolutely-friggin'-fantastic.

"To the point!" i hear you yell at the top of your little lungs, alright...
Over at Play-Asia, they have Rainbow Six: Vegas for an astonishingly cheap (at least here in the UK it is) $50/£25! I have personally bought items from this site before, and i recommend them, they got Call of Duty 3 safe and sound, so don't be afraid to make the jump and order. Here's the link to the deal: Rainbow Six: Vegas - Yours for $50!(£25!)

Xbox360 Top Xmas 2006

Just a quick little post to say that in the Christmas period (November 1st to Christmas Day and in the US only) the Xbox360 was the best selling next generation console selling a whopping 2 million consoles, ahead of the Nintendo Wii's impressive 1.8 million consoles and the PS3's measly 4 consoles sold.

Dashboard Theme Previews

dashboardthemes.com is a brilliant new website and i'm thrilled to see it be picked up by the big gaming blogs (listed down the side if there are any you haven't visited). The site does exactly as the title would suggest, and more. Along side features such as getting a look at each individual blade per theme, it also has ratings from registered users (free to register) and a comment section so you can get some more personal accounts of people thoughts on the themes. It's a fantastic site and I recommend earmarking it for weekly viewing.

A story to warm your heart.

Bungie, you're a bunch of great guys and gals. This is from Xbox360Fanboy:

Over at the Gamespot's forums pictures and a brief video have surfaced of the Halo 3 beta being played by soliders in Iraq. There are a few offscreen pictures posted and a short video showing what looks to be either the Halo 3 loading screen or the title screen. Bungie and Microsoft set up a huge gaming station to showcase Halo 3 multiplayer for the soldiers ... how friggin' cool is that? More pictures and video after the break ... salute!

Myspace Video 2

Halo 3 off screen pics:

I would say the guys playing this are incredibly lucky, but I don't believe in luck in the way it is used today, I believe you have to make your own luck (karma?), and for what these people do, they absolutely 100% deserve this.

Step 1: At the Mos Eisley Cantina, enter the following two codes:

CL4U5H (for Santa hat and red clothes)

TYH319 (for white beard Extra)

Step 2: Go to the Character Customizer and create the proper costume. Use a human head, the appropriate red clothing...and don't forget the red cap! Step 4: Enter the character-based level of your choice in Free Play.

Step 5: Spread holiday cheer to a galaxy in pieces.
